Lawyers at CMS took part in the Scottish Half Marathon and 10km on Sunday 18 September 2016.
Staff from across the CMS offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London took part in the challenges, which featured over 5,000 runners on the day. The races ran along the East Lothian coast, before finishing in the final furlong at Musselburgh Racecourse. Both the Half-Marathon and 10km routes are flat, with a number of the runners setting personal best times. A number of the team also ran for the first time, having started training earlier in the summer. CMS staff also lined the finish to cheer on their colleagues.
Edinburgh Office managing partner, Darren Craig, said: “As a global business with a strong base in Scotland, it is great to be able to support a local race, by participating as a team. Over the summer, our staff have caught the running bug and have been training hard for the various challenges they set themselves.
“It was great to see our team spirit and camaraderie come to the fore, with runners helping and supporting each other en route, and later, by cheering on other colleagues at the finish. To conclude the day, we held a summer BBQ for all staff, joined by our family/friends – a great end to an uplifting day. We hope to make this an annual event for the firm and have more runners join in 2017.
“Over the last 24 months, we’ve been supporting the efforts of Warchild, a charity that protects children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones. It was great to see our runners out supporting their efforts, for which the firm has now raised over £440,000 over the last two years”.
