Shelby King will run at the 2016 Scottish Half Marathon + 10K in memory of her dad who passed away from pancreatic cancer five years ago. The Edinburgh-based international student is in training for the Scottish 10K where she will be raising money for a charity very close to her heart:
“I am raising money for Cancer Research UK, so one day no families will have to suffer what my family has, because of cancer.”
Shelby, who will soon be graduating from The University of Edinburgh with a Masters Degree in International Relations, has been training hard in Holyrood park in preparation for September, alongside finishing off her dissertation. She will soon be heading back to the USA and is excited to run the Scottish 10K before she leaves:
“I will be ending my time in the wonderful city of Edinburgh with a bang, by running the race on the day before I head back home. This will be my second 10K, and I am aiming to run it in under 56 minutes.”
Shelby is well on her way to reaching her fundraising target of £300, and would welcome as many donations as possible! Her fundraising page can be found at the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shelby-king.
We wish her all the best and hope she beats her target time and raises lots more for CRUK!
